I started the day by putting back on the upper forward fuselage.
I'm in the process of re-writing the installation manual for Aerosport Products (www.aerosportproducts.com) carbon fiber instrument panel. Truth be known, I wrote the first one without installing one before. I did have Geoff's comments from his installation. Let's just say there is room for improvement. Anyways, I'm taking a ton of photos and working through the entire process. When I get done, I'll publish an updated installation manual.
I cut the instrument panel lower flange to fabricate the two mounting ears for the aluminum support panel. I drilled two #19 holes on each side, installed two K1000-8 nutplates, and counter sunked the holes. I primed the newly fabricate panel mounts. I then riveted both these to the fuselage.
I then trimmed the carbon fiber panel to remove the carbon fiber where the panel inserts go.
This is a good stopping point. I probably won't get much building done this weekend. I'll be heading to PHD for the Ohio RVator's annual lunch. We'll be heading over as a flight of two RV-10s. Jim Baldwin and Geoff Combs are the lucky owners of these RV-10s. Between the OSU-Penn State game and the honey do list, it will be a full weekend.
