I did some wiring and also tested the FlyLEDs control board. In the testing process I ended up identifying a couple of poor solder connections. Once they were fixed it all worked well. I also ended up breaking off one leg of the controller chip. After contacting the manufacturer I ended up soldering a piece of resistor leg to the broken leg that matched the length of the other chip legs. It went in the slot well and everything works just fine.
