I started by capping off the two firewall prepunched holes Van's intended for electrical wiring. In the first place, they call for plastic snap rings which are totally inadequate for a firewall penetration, secondly, the holes are much too small for all the anticipated wiring, and third their locations are just not idealy. So, I capped the holes with two pieces for stainless sheet held with countersunk rivets and sealed with fireblock sealant.
I then installed three Avery firewall penetration assemblies. I put two on the right side for various sensor wires, etc. I put a third above and a bit outboard of the oil cooler which will accomodate the high power wires. I then ran the main wire up the interior side of the forward fuseage and out the new penetration. I need to get a couple of #6 adel clamps to finish off this run.
Lastly, I began installing various electrical and avionics bits to the sub instrument panel. I mounted the GDL 29 and the two voltage regulators.
