Brief Description:  Carburetor install

Yesterday Dick and I installed the Carb but we weren't happy with the amount of stud sticking through the carb flange on the 4 nuts attaching it to the Sump. I called Aerosport to see what they would suggest. I spoke to Laurie (Male) and told him that three studs where flush with the nut but the rear right was a little under. I already had a couple idea's of how to fix this but I wanted to run it by them. It seems that because of the addition of the Throttle/Mixture cable bracket the amount they had on the test cell (Stud coming through nut) was all taken by the bracket. The build up is Sump-Gasket-Bracket-Gasket-Carb-thick Washer-Internal locking washer-Nut. Dick and I already thought we could get some back by changing the Thick washer to a thin (L) washer. This would give us about .015 more, maybe one thread. I also thought sanding the powder coat off the bracket but don't think that would buy us much. AeroSport another option I didn't even want to go into. Try to back out the studs from the Sump.. Ouch!! When I got home tonight I put two Nuts on the stud an tightened them together and attempted to back one of them out. No go.. Both nuts turned but not the stud. Enough of that!! I also picked up some supplies from PegasusAutoRacing. Thin washers. So I went to town on the Washer idea. This seems to be ok, the one I was worried about clears the nut and the others have about 1 to 1 1/2 threads out of the nut. This is the way I am going then. I added LockTight and torqued it down. I feel good about this now.
