More re-fitting of cowl. Right side hinge nearly impossible to fit together on the fuselage; I removed it and tried fitting the two halves together off the aircraft. The piano wire pin went in easier from the rear, not a solution on the aircraft of course, and was still somewhat difficult. So that says at least it's not the fuselage fit causing this new problem.
