Lars Pedersen came by Sunday for a bit to explain his bottom-half-first method. So I removed the top half, strapped on and adjusted the bottom half, made a 13" 1/4" wood disk (purpose a mystery still), and started to clamp on a few Skybolt flanges to the firewall sides.
Since I was unsure if the Skybolt flanges should fit between the fuse skin and the steel FW, or inside both, I turned to the oil door. Had already made an Al door, so bent that to the slight necessary curve, and fit hinges to both halves. Will puzzle over the exact fitting from the plans a bit more, then rivet things together.
