Riveted VS ribs 704, 705, 706, and 707 to VS 702 forward spar. 706 and 707 are easy, 704 and 705 go together on both sides of spar, and leave little room to get rivet gun and bucking bar in. I thought the shop heads leaned upwards a bit to far. It was Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and I called our local EAA chapter president Chris Halfman to see if any local member was free to take a look and pass judgement. Chris himself said he could stop by and take a look (very nice gesture). He agreed the rivets weren't safe and had to come out. Well, the same confined space issues that caused the leaning rivets makes it hard to get them out. I ended up enlarging one hole. Talked to Van's, who recommended going to a 5 rivet instead of a 4 to fill hole. Now I am waiting on rivet order for AN470AD5-5 to show up to finish the VS forward spar.
