Brief Description:

Today I decided to create history. I will be the first and only person to build a plane with no vertical stabilizer. This decision is final, and not subject to reflection. As a result of this decision, I started at square one on the horizontal stab.

Spent most of the day working on the rear spar doublers. I broke the edges on the bench grinder, but the faces I did the old fashioned way, with sandpaper and elbow grease. Started with 200 grit, but that was too fine. Used 3M "fine" emery cloth for metal, which was better. The doublers are higher on the edges of the perimeter than they are in the middle, so I have shiny edges and dull interior. Had to use the old human finger to polish the middle (was it the middle finger?) After that it was the 200 grit again, followed by 400. I'm very happy with how they turned out. See the before and after pic.

Clecoed the spars, doublers, and hinge brackets together and matched drilled everything, except the 411 assembly, which is causing me difficulty. At least it felt good to turn small holes into bigger holes again, instead of DEBURRING (guess what I'll be doing tomorrow?)

This program limits me to 3 pics per entry, which is a tad limiting. Please see next entry.
