Brief Description:  Re-Skin of the VS

So I decided to go ahead and use my new VS skin instead on using the original one. The original one had the RV-10 bump around the nose ribs, not to mention several other love marks.

They could have been repaired, but I just wouldn't feel right installing a beat up skin on a part when I've got a brand new one sitting in reserve.

Today I deburred the edges of the skin, drilled the appropriate holed out to #40, deburred them, and then dimpled the correct holes with a 3/32" dimple die on the DRDT-2.

There are a couple of holes that you can not reach with a C-Frame or DRDT-2. Last time I tried to reach them with the dimpler and I really just messed the skin up more. This time I only dimpled those that I could easily access and used a pop-rivet dimpler to get those impossible holes.

Tomorrow, I'll clean, alodine, and prime the interior of the skin. I may even have a chance to cleco it to the skeleton and drive some rivets.

I REALLY took care of the skins surface this time. (As you can tell from the nice clean reflection)

Moving the skins can be awkward, take your time. (The shops isn't as cluttered as the photo appears.)
