Brief Description:  Riveting the tailcone

Today I managed to get some time to start riveting on the tailcone. Also, since this is the bottom of the tailcone, this was also a good opportunity to teach Sara a little bit about rivets. The tailcone is a big piece and you really need two people to do a decent job - so she's officially in training.

The entire tailcone is cleco'd together and resting on it's side (on the sawhorses).

I had her holing a bucking bar against the manufactured head of the rivets. I shot them from the other side with a back rivet set. They look great.

There might be some rivets where I need her to shoot (or buck) the rivets traditionally, but back riveting is the best option for asthetics and it's less stressful on your inexperienced riveting partner.

(That's good when your riveting partner is your wife.)

Tonight we riveted the 1047G stiffiner to the 1078 bottom skin, F-1007, F-1008, and F-1010.

We'll work on more tomorrow.
