Wed 8/15/2007 was the big day. Today, the big green truck stopped in front of the house! I haven't been able to sleep for the past 3 days because I've been too excited.
Thanks to the truck driver for helping me unload the crates.I thought I'd be able to handle them by myself, but it's clearly more than one man can handle.
After we unloaded them, I started opening the long skinny crate first.
I barely cracked the lid and realized I was in for parts, parts, and parts. I still don't know what is in that crate becauseI havne't had a chance to inventory it yet.
I originally thought the empennage kit would be small, simple, and a relatively easy to build. (You know, it's a warm up for the REAL part of the kit)
I was wrong, I'm building an airplane and just because it's the empennage its not small, easy, or simple.
So far, I've spent 4 hours doing inventory and I'm still not through the list. I think you can plan on 6-8 hours for a decent inventory and storage of parts. Then you can probably count on another hour after that to clean up your workspace.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to complete the inventory tomorrow and I'll get a chance to look at the plans in some more detail. I don't really think I'll have a chance to start building for a few days. There's just too many parts to get your hands (and mind) around.
