Brief Description:  Measuring, measuring, measuring! Firewall in plac

Today was a day of extensive measuring, leveling and fiddling! This was all to ensure the fuse was square, the motor mounts in the proper place and the upper longerons level.

First up was locating and mounting the firewall to the fuselage bottom. Wood jigs were used per the plans to make sure the firewall is at the 13 degree angle.

Next up was the installation of the upper motor mounts. What a pain it is! There is no hole, or info on where exactly to put a hole in the front of the mount bracket for the mount bolt. To complicate the matter, you have to ensure the height of the bottom of the bracket is at the same height as the top of the upper longeron as marked on the rear side skins. Much measuring, adjusting, cursing, etc finally let me locate the bolt holes. It is easier if you actually clamp the upper longerons in place and do the location that when to ensure it is level..

After the mount brackets were located and temporarily held in place with spacers and a nut, the upper longeron was located, leveled and drilled in place to the front bracket. The height was set at the gear mount as per the plans.
