Brief Description:  Finished up the stabilizer

Enough farting around! I finally got to spend some serious time in the workshop.

I started off the day riveting the upper skin in place are far back as I am able. In Canada, we can't close up the structure until it is inspected. I riveted the front spar and 3 rivets back on the ribs. Mark at CanZac recommends that I put in a few temporary rivets on the inspection area and not to leave cleceos on the structure for long periods of time due to the possibility of rust forming. I will do those after the elevator is done.

The next step was to fit the tip rib and the fiberglass tips. This was an unbelievably finacky process. It was very difficult to get both of the tip ribs in place at the same angle and length. The worst part is you really have nothing to line up the tip with since the elevator is not done. I might have to rework these one I hinge the elevator in place. The tips are not riveted to the structure until after the stab is mounted onto the fuselage so they will be going into storage (hidden so they won't haunt me!)

Now for my pet peeve of the day..... The fiberglass tips provided by ZAC are total junk! The tips have huge scars in them from poor molding and they have not been trimmed after forming. The open side of the tips have no reference edge and are up to 10mm out of straight in places. Totally rediculous. They could have easily sanded them with a reference edge before they shipped. I tried to line them up as best I could but there is going to be a LOT of fiberglass work when the tips are permanently attached after the stab is mounted on the fuselage. I did the best I could with what I was given. We will see how it turns out in the end, but I might have to replace them.
