Completed the rudder project today. Didn't have any major issues and it all went together smoothly. I have been using aviation primer in a spray can and I can't say I'm very happy with the results. It took just one can for the rudder and I think I could probably get away with the entire airplane that way but the primer doesn't seem very durable. I'm not sure the durability will increase with age cure. I would feel better if I could find a better solution; something I could spray on (not a rattle can, but I dunno). The 6061-T6 stays pretty healthy on its own so I probably shouldn't worry about it too much. I didn't trim the lower nose aluminium. It is obviously to long but I think it would be better to trim it later once I had an idea for what the fairing looks like. Besides, the assembly manual and plans do not really address this issue. I did not rivet any of the spar below the nose rip so I could attack the cutting a little easier. Going to order more pieces tomorrow. It might be awhile before they show up. Fortunately I have a motor to work on.
