Brief Description:  Started riveting HS

The hand rivet squeezer finally came today, so I immediately placed the dies in the tool, and demonstrated to my visiting 9 year old granddaughter Ally the fine art of dimpling the rib flanges, and showed her how the rivets would stick up and drag in the air if the dimples were not present. She was very impressed (yeah, right). Actually, after thinking a moment, she did ask why the rivets sticking out would make the plane go slower, so I gave her the old “did you ever stick your arm and hand out of a moving car” analogy; she had and then understood. She really is a thinker. Anyway, after bringing her home I began dimpling ribs and spars in earnest, got all the ribs and spars for the HS dimpled, and primed the non-Alclad parts along with the end HS ribs, since they may get more exposure than other ribs.
Then I clecoed and began riveting the rear HS spar with 1/8” rivets. The plans said the 1/8” rivets would require some extra oomph with a hand squeezer. They were not kidding; now I know why Steve and others buy the air squeezers, after about 20 rivets my forearms were numb, so had to rest awhile. I think I will begin to save up for the pneumatic squeezer.
