Brief Description:  Vertical Stabilizer Final Assembly

Finished up the assembly of the vertical stabilizer. There were a couple tougher spots in the riveting. The worst is the forward spar above the middle in-spar rib. The skin is already partially attached at this point, and needs to be unclecoed and gently bent out of the way to get a bucking bar (and attached arm) inside the structure. Only a few of the rivets turned out 'perfect' in here, but they were all acceptable. I did have the bucking bar slip off the rivet a couple times and put some minor dings in the skin. I tapped these in with a small hammer, and will probably fill the resulting small dent before painting. It was helpful to put some duct tape over the end of the bucking bar to prevent it from scratching the primer.

The other surprise was the rivets on the rear spar flange in the area of the lower rudder hinge bracket. The squeezer couldn't get to them and only the thin edge of the footed bucking bar could get on the rivet squarely. It took a couple tries to get a good shop head, and the primer got dinged in the process. I will touch this up when priming the parts for the rudder.
