Brief Description: Fitting of bottom cowl
|
|
Fitted bottom cowl per Rans video and illustrations as follows:
1. Applied masking tape to fuselage just aft of cowling joggle and drew a 3" reference line aft of joggle on masking tape. Temporarily assembled spinner backplate, prop spacer, and aft prop hub to prop flange.
2. Roughly trimmed aft cowling edge, prop flange,nose strut cutout, oil cooler / radiator intake, cylinder openings, and oil pump openings.
3. Taped cowling in place, using a 3/8" aluminum bar as as spacer between the forward edge of the cowling and the aft edge of the spinner backplate.
4. Marked aft edge from 3" reference mark, removed bottom cowl, and re-trimmed.
5. Refitted bottom cowl, taped in place, drilled fasterner holes to #40 and cleco'd in place.
