Brief Description: LH wing - continued fitting of leading edge
Continued fitting of the leading edge of the LH wing per the Rans manual as follows:
1. Attached upper side of the leading edge to main spar and ribs with 3/32 cleco's. Flipped assembly over, leveled and secured in place.
2. Drew a line on the bottom aft skin along the main spar .45" from the spar joggle.
3. Used strapping tape along each nose rib to pull the leading edge so that the spar holes aligned with the line drawn along the spar.
4. Attempted to bring the leading edge into contact with the nose ribs, but the bend in the leading edge will need to be tightened. I could find no mention of this in the manual, but I noted that others did the same when researching builders' logs. Again, the wing manuals leave much to the imagination.
5. Removed the approximately 300 cleco's from the leading edge and set the skin aside. The bending of the leading edge will have to wait until a trip to the local building supply store for a 12' 2x4.
