Kept thinking about the fact that I had riveted the longerons to the bottom fuse skin and I checked ahead...it would definitely be complicated to drill the longerons for the side skins if they were attached to the bottom so I bit the bullet and removed them. Turned out to be not so big of a deal. I used Jon Croke's method...give a little twist of the drill on the rivet head to remove it and hit what remains with a punch to knock it out. You can see from the pics that the holes remain unchanged. I did not have to initially use a punch to shove the stem in, that was totally unnecessary...so problem solved.
Heading To St John, USVI for a week. We spent 2 weeks there in March and had the greatest time, its simply a wonderful island and 2/3 of it is a National Park...great beaches and snorkeling.
