Brief Description:  Wing Tip...Right Wing Complete

Mounted the tip today, after having done the left wing, this was a piece of cake. Trimmed the two plastic components...there's a lot of excess material. Very messy...I do it outside with the dremel cutoff wheel.

Mounted the trailing edge first...trimmed about 1/2" off the tabs to get the edge of the trailing edge to line up with the edge of the aluminum trailing edge. Drilled and clecoed.

On the front piece I trimmed close to the final position but ended up taking it off twice to cut an additional 1/8"...it pays to go slow with this piece. Consistently kept pressure applied frontwards to get it as far forward as possible. Used a stiff wire with a hooked end to shove in between the plastic and aluminum at the front to pull it out far enough to match the rest of it. Drilled and clecoed.

It took 71 hours to build the left wing and 36.5 to build the right...essentially 50% less time. I attribute this to the experience of having built the first wing but more importantly making all the parts for both wings at the time I made them for the first...as well as drilling, deburring, priming all the ribs etc for both wings at the same time.

I'm about to disappear from the hangar again...life getting in the way of airplane construction!! Heading to Emerald Isle in NC for a week at the beach and then heading north to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia until the end of October. Back in the Aeroplane factory in November!!
