Today I took delivery of a complete 601XL Kit. Only the rudder was completed and for reason know to the orginal owner was not taken any further. I found the kit on Barnstormers in NC and after several weeks of mulling it around decided to call the owner to see if it was still available, It was and the price had been reduced. So for less than the price of materials to scratch build the CH650 and a comment by my wife, "I would like to see you fly before you die," I decided to switch gears and build from this kit.
I next determined the orginal owner was coming to Oshkosh and he would deliver the kit to my door for an extra $100 & $200 to build a box to deliver it in. It was a deal and refreshing to make a deal over the phone on a hand shake so to speak and have the person honor their word.
So this will move completion of my plane ahead by years, I'm really looking forward to the process of building from a kit. But 1st I have to get my AirVenture fix next week.
