Brief Description: Setting up to Pro-Seal the Trailing Edge
Tonight, I drilled through all of the holes in the rudder skin into a steel angle that I bought from Lowe's Aircraft Supply. I had to be very careful not to enlarge the holes in the skin, since they were already drilled and dimpled. While it took a while and I had to "baby" every hole to keep them centered, I think the trailing edge will turn out better this way. Van's says for you to use "the edge of a very straight work table" to do this step. I decided to follow the suggestions of others on the Vans Airforce site and use an even "straighter" piece of steel angle. Once I receive my little tub of Pro-Seal from Van's I'll be ready to glue and rivet the rudder halves together. I'm a little nervous about using the Pro-Seal for the first time, so I will be researching in the days to come.
