Brief Description:  Beginning Work on Doors

Today, I began working on the doors, which come in "halves." First, there's a lot of trimming and getting the two halves to line up with one another. The supposed "dimples" in the molds that the directions tell you to use to line up the two halves are useless. Out of about 8 dimple locations that were molded into the door halves, only 3 lined up in any meaningful way. So, using the dimples I had to work with and being sure to set the window jog correctly between the two halves, I was able to secure both halves to the fuselage and drill my own "mating" holes. These will be used to not only hold the door halves to the fuselage, thus matching the shape of the fuse, but also to hold the halves together during the bonding session. After getting all the holes done for both door assemblies, I sanded per the instructions, to get the doors ready to go together. Also, I permanently bonded the aluminum plate to each door, where the lift strut will attach.
