Brief Description:  Right Wing - Updrill for spar mating

As noted on the previous page I used an alternate method for mating and updrilling the wing attach blocks. The instructions are on one of the other pages with today's date.

On this page I'm showing how I updrilled the three 3/32" alignment holes. I first held them together with long reach 3/32" wingnut clecos (now shown). Then one at a time I updrilled to 3/16" so that I could use my long reach 3/16" wing nut clecos (shown here).

Then finally, one at a time, I updrilled each hole with a 7/32" bit, and finished up with a 1/4" reamer that I chucked in the cordless hand drill. Go slown and neat with the reamer and you'll get a nice fitting hole.

I then used some 1/4" bolts (with 1/2" of smooth, unthreaded shank), a couple of washers each, and a wing nut to mate the spar together temporarily. They are just hardware from Ace Hardware since they are only temporary.

The last picture here skips ahead to where I'm about to drill the wing attach blocks, but I put it here since it's the only one that shows the temporary bolt and wing nut.
