Brief Description:  INSTALL ELT / EGT WIRING / PITOT TUBE

Today I installed the ELT [ Emergency Locator Transmitter ] on to the the rear cockpit bulkhead. I completed the installation of the wiring for the EGT gauge, and started the process of crimping connector ends onto the CHT probe wiring. I also installed the Pitot tube to the top of the root tube, and made a opening in the front of the root tube cover fiberglass panel. The final fitting of the doors & windscreen has convinced me that making the modification for hinged access panels in the windscreen is a necessary mod. Either that, or I will need to become a contortionist ...... I spent the bulk of my time today working on the lexan of the doors & windscreen. The final windscreen will be the smoked lexan I bought from Quad City Aircraft, as the original was sprayed over with paint & had been scratched up in storage. That being the case, I plan to make an overlap seem in the front sides of the new windscreen such that when the main doors are closed, the front hinged sections of the windscreen will overlap the outer layer of the main doors. The match between the door frame and the windscreen frame is not the best, and an exact fit is difficult to do. It is my hope that by keeping a outer cover section of the windscreen that will overlap the doors in flight will better serve to seal the cockpit during inclement weather use of the main doors. Of course in the summer time this will be a mute point as most flying will be with the doors removed.
