Brief Description:  Installed Oil Tank Assembly and Overflow Bottle

49-04: Scraped the wax and stuck RTV sealant from the firewall bottom. Applied additional RTV on the Cooler Box Door at the spots where the sealant got pulled when I opened the door. This time I placed Boelube liquid on the firewall to see if it is better than wax from preventing the RTV from sticking.

Replaced the original drain in the oil tank with a SAF AIR Quick Drain Sump
Valve. Safety wired the drain to the tank.

49-06: Installed the Oil Tank Assembly and fabricated the FF-1219 Oil Vent Interconnect and FF-1218 Oil Tank Vent Tube. Drilled a #19 hole in the F-1201Q Battery Mount Angle for a zip tie to secure the Vent Tube. Connected the Vent Tube to the Oil Tank Assembly and made bends in a number of places to clear the firewall and engine mount ring. Placed zip ties where prescribed by the plans. Connected the FF-1220 Overflow Bottle Hose onto the Overflow Bottle. This was hard since the hole in the hose is small. Installed the 922-327 Overflow Bottle to the firewall and applied RTV on the ridges that will contact the firewall. Connected the other end of the FF-1220 Hose to the 922-665 Expansion Tank Assembly. This was even harder because of the small hole in the hose and the relatively large barbed stem in the Expansion Tank. This took a lot of time and effort and it was made more difficult by the limited amount of space to work on. I eventually was able to do it but my fingers got really sore. Connected the FF-1208B Radiator Hose-Output onto the Expansion Tank. Will finish this step later since I have to wait for the RTV sealant on the Cooler Box Door to cure.

Tightened and placed additional zip ties around the wires and tubes that were recommended in Section 46, Engine Installation.
