Brief Description:  Work on Exhaust System

Installed the Bottom Cowl and checked the clearance of the exhaust pipe. Had to trim some material from the edge of the hole opening to get at least 1/4 inch of clearance from around the pipe. Tried to cut the exhaust pipe with the exhaust system installed but it was hard. Decided to remove the muffler assembly and put it on the work bench and removed about 2 inches from the exhaust pipe. Re-installed the muffler assembly and re-torqued the retaining nuts. Applied Permatex RTV Red to the inside of the springs and the hooks. Installedthe the 2 EGT probes to Cylinder #3 and Cylinder #4 exhaust pipes. Routed the wires according to the plans and mated the spade connectors to those coming from the firewall.

Applied Loctite 567 to the threads of the fuel line fittings and tightened the connectors.

Fitted the Top Cowl again and it needs to be trimmed to remove some overlap with the bottom cowl and make it fit properly but I'll check with Van's first to see if this is ok. The S-1202 Spinner Plate and S-1201 Spinner look too close to the front of the cowling and will likely interfere during operation. Will ask Van's for suggestions on how to address this problem.
