Number of Hours:  5.00
Manual Reference:  PAP T1-1, Matco M
Brief Description:  Taxi test, brake tests, compass calibration

PAP T1-1, Matco Manual: Re-installed the Top and Bottom Cowls so I can do the taxi tests. Hobbs reading on engine startup was 3.3. Started the engine and let it warm up. Somehow when I pressed the left button on the Skyview the screen flashes but does not boot up. This is new. With the Master Switch ON the EFIS booted up but screen showed ziggly ines. Pressed the 7 and 8 buttons to reboot and this time the screen was normal. There is a low fuel warning but I have 16 gallons in the tank. I'll check the Skyview Guide to see how to correct this.

At 2500 RPM the brakes can hold the aircraft. Taxied the plane to the runway and it is easily controlled with the rudders. Did 360 degree turns with 1 wheel "locked", both left and right, and everything was fine. At 4000 RPM runup the brakes could hold the aircraft. Taxied on the runway with varying speeds up to 30 MPH and the plane easily tracks the centerline. I was getting a caution voice around 20 MPH but I could not understand what the voice was saying. Did brake conditioning per the Matco Manual. I may repeat this later to get the shiny appearance on the brake discs.

Skyview EFIS Manual: Did the on-ground compass calibration and it was successful.

After engine shut down pulled the aircraft 3 airplane lengths and the brakes are not binding. Hobbs reading at shut down was 4.2.

Removed the cowls, all the inspection panels, carpet, baggage bulkhead corrugation, floor covers, tunnel covers, Tailcone fairing and V-stab nose skin in preparation for inspection.

I noticed some wetness from brake fluid at the fittings outboard of the U-1203 Inboard Main Gear Attach Brackets. Tightened the fittings a little bit and will recheck later. I also noticed an oily film on the the tunnel floor and the fuel return line underneath the firewall shelf. It did not smell of gas. It could have come from the oil overflow from the oil tank while "burping" the engine prior to the first engine start. Will watch the area closely. I did not see any other leaks, fuel, oil or coolant
