Brief Description: Installed Engine Mount Ring & canopy latch wiring
Disconnected the lower coolant hoses to install the WD-1220 Engine Mount Ring. Removed the crankcase Allen screw per the plans. Also removed the powder coating from the mating surfaces of the 4 engine mount bushings. Applied masking tape on the inner surface of the engine mount ring to protect the surface during installation. I had some difficulty installing the ring until I realized that the steel angles supporting the engine in the crate had to be removed first. It was easy after they were removed. Bolted the engine mount ring to the engine but I was not sure of the torque. The plans refers to the Rotax Illustrated Parts Catalog. I found 30 ft-lbs for the M10X110 Allen screw but not for the M10X30. I’m not sure if the torque is the same since they have the same diameter but will verify before proceeding.
Decided to work on a different section. Notification 14-05-22, Canopy Latch Warning Retrofit, recently came out from Van’s and I’ve got the parts for this. Inserted a wire (WH-00110) with a pin into position 12 of the EMS 37-pin d-sub that connects to the EMS module. Inserted the other end of the wire into position 27 of the “EFIS” d-sub that connects to the AV-5000A Control module. Inserted a wire with pin into position 8 of the WH-00046 Fuselage harness d-sub. The temperature is in the high 90’s now and will stop working.
