Contacted Van's about the 2 autopilot harnessed I have and which one to connect to the AP disconnect switch and to the Control Module. I had assumed I was supposed to use the WH-00049 AP DC Switch and the WH-00025 AP harness and installed them because they are the newer versions and I had not installed the D-180, and they were sent with the SV package. Van's replied that I have to use the older AP DC switch and the wiring from the older Optional harness. I don't understand this. This meant that I have to wire the AP using the older plans (for the D-180) and then modify it to make it compatible with the SV system. I've wasted a lot of time with this upgrade and the instructions have been very confusing. I would imagine it would have been a lot faster and less confusing if I just replaced the entire wiring for the avionics instead of the conversion package.
Routed the WH-B179 and WH-B180 (Cockpit Light Power Wire and Cockpit Light Ground Wire, respectively) from the back of the fuselage tthrough the Tunnel and up through the Panel Base. This was quite a chore trying to pass the wires over the Wireway. I used a thin stainless steel wire to "fish" the 2 white wires from behind the lower firewall and over the Wireway.
Installed the WH-F78 and WH-F79 wires and pins into the Optional D-sub Connector. Repositioned the RZ 944 wire from the WH-00025 AP connector to the WH-00026 Autopilot D connector. Crimped the WH-L80 and WH-F177 wires to the WH-179 wire using a butt splice. Did the same to the WH-L82 and WH-F178 wires to the WH-B180 wire.
Removed the WH-0049 AP Disconnect Switch form the Center Panel and cut the wires to the Molex housing. Removed the Molex housing from the WH-00025 Harness. I'll re-connect the AP DC switch next time, after getting replacement parts.
