Brief Description:  Installed new spar pin switch, purged brake lines

31B-10, Not 15-09-15: Trimmed 1 wired from each WH-00129 Spar Pin Switch Harness to 4.5 inches long and crimped a ring terminal. Removed the paint from the areas where the ground terminal will be installed. Installed the F-00104 Spar Pin Switch Plates with the Spar Pin Switch to the Arm Rests. The space needed between the Arm Rests and the Switch Plates is significant and I ended up using the thicker NAS1149FO363P washers. I needed to put 3 washers per screw. Routed the other wires from the switches aft and into the channel. Connected the wires to the designated wires coming from the F-1204Y Conduit using butt splices. I have the old wiring harness and the color and designation are a little different between the old and new harnesses.

PAP G1: Worked on bleeding the brake system. I read the Matco instructions and the suggestions in the VAF.net forum. Bought a pump sprayer and clear plastic tubing from Lowe’s. I tried the right brake system first but I had big leaks where I connected plastic tubing to the bleeder valve and between the F-1289D-R Caliper Brake Line and the fitting at the U-1203 Inboard Main Gear Attach Bracket. It appears that I did not tighten the nut well. Tightening the nuts stopped the leaks. I made a mess and lost a lot of fluid from the leakage. After changing the size of the plastic tubing and several tires I was able to bleed the right side. While working on the left brake system I noticed bubbles in the lines. I will need to redo the purging of the brake system at another time and need more brake fluid.
