Began fabricating the Tail Skid Bracket (F-1211G) from a thick piece of aluminum. The instructions were not very clear to me. Match drilled the #30 and 1/4 holes, radiused the edges and matched the recess on the template. Deburred the edges. I had to go to the tool store (Harbor Freight) to get a T-Handle/Driver for the tap. Before tapping the bracket, I had to check a book and internet to get instructions on tapping and how to use the tool. Drilled and tapped one of the holes per plans. I'm not sure if the fabrication is complete but the one in the Figure looks different.
Worked on the F-1211B Bulkhead Doubler - trimmed the tabs, deburred the edges and countersunk holes for D3 and D4 rivets. Separated the F-1211D Attach Brackets, the F-1284 Shear Clips , the F-1211C Hinge Brackets and F-1283- J Stiffeners; and deburred the edges.
I wanted to start Page 10-04 work but the holes in the Tail Skid Bracket would not match those in the F-1211A Fuselage Bulkhead. Went back to Page 10-03 and re-read Step 1. I noted that I missed a couple of steps. I need to remove about 1/4 inch of material on each side of the tapped hole. Looked at websites of other RV-12 builders and saw samples of the completely fabricated part. It is getting late, will continue tomorrow.
