Brief Description:  Engine Baffles, Plenum and cowl

Completed the plenum wall along the engine side and rear. Produced one inter cylinder top baffle in fibre glass. and started building the plenum roof shape in preparation for glassing the roof.I wasn't happy with the standard Jabiru cowling system. Firstly I have an early version of the duct which has since been made significantely larger. I was unable to fit even the smaller ones I had under the cowling so this wasn't going to work. Also a number of people have significant problems with the Jabiru duct and it just doesn't seem to be well thought through. Following a bunch of research into cooling plenums I decided to go witha completely encased upper plenum. There was a NASA study done inthe 1980s that dicovered that 33% of the cooling air was leeking around the normal silicone seal that is common in GA aircraft engine cooling setups. So a re-design was called for.

this involved cuttin ght ecowl in half down the middle and cutting areas out over the top of the cyclinder heads. The right side particulalry had very limited space at the front of the cowl over the head. Less than 5mm clearnce. So out comes the expanding foem and fibre glass. Joy.
