Brief Description:  Lower cowling and Exhaust Augmentor

The engine was reset to correct level and then the lower cowl re-fitted. I made an outlet ramp duct from metal to protect the lower firewall. If there is an engine fire the flames are going out the bottom here. I needed a ramp so metal seemed like the best material. this now provides a double barrier against flames coming out under the floor. The metal only goes a couple of inches and then aluminium takes over all the back to the undercarriage cross member. The augmentor will be mounted to this plate.

I am installing an augmentor to ehlp with engine cooling. A number of people have trouble cooling the Jabiru 3300 on the 601. I have an early model cowl which probably doesn't help either. The augmentor is a tube outlet that the exhaust blows into creating a vaccum which sucks cooling air out of the the lower cowling which in turn draws more air through the engine and cools it. The nice part is you use the exiting exhaust gas to power the cooling system. This also throttles the cooling proportional to the power (heat) being generated. A nice idea, although you don't see them used a lot. This is experimental aviation :)
