Still moving forward. Today I had to put the "split" in split nosebowl. It sure is nicer to remove the nosebowl, cowling, etc without having to remove the prop and prop hub. So.... I made a split line with vinly tape, bought a tool that holds "sawzall" blades like a knife and carefully cut along the guide, seperately the nosebowl into two pieces again. I temporarily installed it on the plane again to see how it looks/fits and used to posterboard to mock up how the sheet metal will roll. So far so good! Now I've got to create a lip with the side edges joine and install some fastners to hold it together much like the original design.
Extra projects while waiting on fiberglass to cure: reinstalled the panel, including the semi permanent mounting screws for the radio rack. Repitiched the prop to a finer #2 for takeoff and climb performance. Added some conduit to finish out the installation of the wires going to the stick. Switched the headset plugs for Pilot and Copilot so they can be reached during flight. Turns out you can't reach back directly behind your head while strapped in... at least I can't!
