Brief Description:  Lower Cowl Mod

I've been flying my bird, but I've had engine cooling issues. I figured it out with cardboard and duct tape, and tuft testing. Now I'm rebuilding the cowling to reflect the changes that I've discovered I needed. By narrowing the cowling I can direct the flow of air more efficiently and maybe it will look better? The first step is the narrow the bottom cowl section to match the firewall. In the first pic you can see that I trimmed 4" off the back edge, you can see the difference when you compare each edge to the center cut out for the nose wheel. In total, I will be able to narrow the bottom of the cowl by 8" which is a lot! Now the cowl will match the dimensions of the firewall instead of hanging out on each side and bottom. Originally I thought that would give me great exit flow, turns out is created turbulence and reverse air flow, who knew you can't just eyeball fluid dynamics!!!
