Brief Description: Installing Panel Mounting Hardware in Fuselage
After moving the vent hole that left a large hole in the panel. Not only that, but the vents needed a thicker panel for the tightening nut to function. Two patches were made, one for the left and one for the right. After getting the correct shape, the 2" hole for the vent was located and drilled. The patches were clamped in place and mounting holes were drilled. The holes were countersunk, deburred and then rivets wre installed. Next the mounting holes were located in the glareshield. A locating line was drawn on the lip of the panel and the panel was placed under the glareshield. Using the locating lines as a guide the holes were drilled in the panel. Nut plates were installed on the panel lip using the holes as guides. The holes to secure the nut plates were drilled, dimpled, and then the nut plates were installed.
