Brief Description: Drilled Upper Gear Leg Inside Cockpit & Installed
With the toe-in and gear length set, the upper gear leg was drilled. This was done in steps. First, a pilot hole was drilled in the up main gear weld mount. This pilot hole was used to start a pilot hole in the in titanium gear leg. The legs were then removed and the correct size hole was drilled on the drill press, the use of cutting oil and a sharp drill bit was crucial here. The gear leg was re-installed and the toe-in was again verified. the hole in the gear leg was used to drill the backside of the upper gear weld mount. The parts were deburred and the required bolt was installed. The Asuza mechanical brakes were installed on the main axle weld mounts followed by the main gear wheels.
