I guess I didn’t get too many pictures of my process here, but I ended up using the sliding miter saw to cut down the counterweights. The sides would have been much easier with a band saw, but I still don’t have one (yet). I was able to make it work with the carbide tipped saw blade. I just had to secure the work piece (counterweight) and cut slowly. Where the sliding miter saw worked well was removing the extra thickness on two of the weights. I basically just set the height of the blade so that it only removed the amount needed, then worked it back and forth until it was all cleaned up. I then took the pieces to the sander to smooth the edges and makes sure the fit was right. I did have to final size the holes and clean up some of the flashing around the holes, which I did on the drill press.
