Brief Description: Prime and Rivet – first pieces (6-4)
After completion of the paint booth I was anxious to give it a try. I prepped the VS by scuffing up the surfaces with scotchbrite, then wiped them down with acetone. I mixed the SW primer and catalyst 1:2 and then worked to set up the spray gun. My first attempt went on a little thick so I dialed down the paint to air mixture to more of a fine mist. Once the trial parts were looking good I moved on the VS parts. I still need to work on getting it to lay down evenly, but it’s good enough and the coverage is good. Once the primer was dry, I proceeded to assembly and rivet the first pieces. I recall on the RV-12 that everyone has a picture of the first part they riveted, the rudder hinge bracket with the rudder stops. So in that tradition I thought I should include the same for this build. I finished up the night by completing all the rivets on the rear spar assembly.
