Brief Description:  Rudder skins match drilled to skeleton

I clecoed the R-901 R&L rudder skins to the skeleton and match drilled all the holes to #40. I removed the skins and deburred all the holes. Next I dimpled all the remaining holes that were not dimpled earlier. I cleaned the inside of both skins and used a scotch bright pad to scuff the surface. I did a final cleaning with lacquer thinner. Using my hvlp spray gun, I applied two coats of zinc chromate primer to the inside of both skins. Cleaned the gun and and started the trailing edge machine countersinking. The taper of the R-916 trailing edge is 12 degrees. I used a 24 inch piece of 2x4 and using my table saw cut a slot along the piece at a 12 degree angle just deep enough so the aluminum edge would set flush. I cut a stop the width of the trailing edge to hold it in place when a drill the countersink. I clamped the 2x4 to my drill press so that the trailing edge holes were in line with the countersink cutter. I set the depth stop and countersunk both sides of the trailing edge. I deburred the piece and checked the fit with the rudder skin. Perfect.
