Brief Description:  Wiring Harness for Roll Servo

In April of 2014 I took the EAA Electrical/Avionics course in Watsonville, Ca. There I learned the proper techniques and use of tools for wiring my RV-7A. I had already purchased the various tools and now it was time to put them to use. I decided to tackle the wiring harness for the Garmin GSA 28 roll servo mounted in the wing. The J281 connector has 15 pinouts that plugs into the roll servo. The jackscrew backshell is what holds the wire bundle and pins in place and secures it to the servo. Most of the wires are 22 gauge with 2 18 gauge for power and ground. Two are shielded cables. I decided to use one continuous run from the servo to the instrument panel to avoid connector issues later. Earlier in the year I had measured out 17 feet from the servo to the panel with a few feet extra. I purchased a Brothers Label making machine that looks like a large calculator. I used the Garmin Manual to print out various labels for each wire of the harness. The labels have a peel off backing and to make sure they stay on, I used clear small diameter heat shrink tubing around the label to secure it. I installed all the pins.
