Today I will fabricate the 2 F-638 seat back braces which requires cutting holes, bending and trimming. Looking at DWG 30 I first cut the 8-2.25" holes using my drill press and an ajustable circle cutter. I made a wood jig to hold the piece in place and clamped it to the drill press table. Using a slow speed and light pressure I cut 8 perfect lightning holes. I deburred all the holes and proceeded to mark the 4 bends called for in DWG 30. I bent the ends 90 degrees using my bench brake and then marked where I needed to trim the bends. It was easy to trim the ends using my pneumatic cut-off wheel. I deburred the edges and moved to locating the piano hinge. First I cut the hinges to length and then clamped them in place on the seat back brace. I marked the holes and drilled #40 holes. I deburred the holes and set the seat back brace aside for later finishing.
