Spent some time relearning how to spec-bend fuel lines. While working on my first wing (left), I decided to cleco the front ribs directly to my work bench so that I could easily design my fuel line path. It worked very well, so I did the same for the right wing. I didn't like how my bending tool was maring up the lines when pinched, so I filed down the tube gripping portion a bit and smoothed it with the bench scotchbrite grinder. Worked winningly. Maybe I'll remake my left wing's lines. We'll see. At the end of the day, I had some good lines (I may do another set just to clean it up a little bit more now that I've had some recent experiance again...I have a lot of spare so no problems there). I then realized that I forgot to slide on my nylon-plastic grommet for the 3/8" line that goes on the middle rib between the tank-rib and the wing-root rib before flaring the ends. Crud. Thought maybe I could just cut a rubber one and slide it into place. I don't really like doing that...but i took a picture and went upstairs to think about it. While looking at the picture, something didn't strike me as quite right, so I looked up my left wing's line and low-and-behold I figured it out. I have the bulkhead unions on the wing-root rib inserted backwards. It's a heck of a lot easier to cut lines shorter than longer, since the bulkhead unions will now have the long part on the inside of the rib. I remember doing this originaly so I could insert the union to the line without having to bend it into place if needing replacement while the wing is already attached. I'll use this as an easy back-to-work effort tomorrow evening.
