Mounting the comm antenna. Fabricated a 0.062" piece of aluminum 5" square and made a doubler to mount the MGL VT-10 comm radio antenna. Bent a flange on one side of the doubler so it could be riveted to the bottom of teh rear spar web next to teh floor. Centered the doubler on the floor, and drilled rivet holes into the floor and the front of the rear spar web. Applied zinc chromate primer to the mating surfaces of the doubler and the floor. Made a 1/2" hole in the center of the doubler for the antenna. Mounted the antenna. Connected the comm radio coax to the antenna conductor and to the doubler (ground) next to the antenna connection.
Comm antenna is mounted on the bottom of the fuselage in the center about 2" in front of the rear spar.
