Brief Description:  Full Power Run on Engine

Moved the aircraft out of the hanger for a taxi test. Checked the engine for hydraulic lock and then started. Attempted to taxi away from the hanger but was unable to make a sharp right turn. The right brake didn't hold enough to break the tail wheel out for the sharp turn. Shut down and pushed the aircraft back onto the ramp in front of the hanger.

Turned the aircraft point north and strapped the tail post to the fire hydrant. Again checked the engine for hydraulic lock. Got into the aircraft and started the engine. Ran at 1000 rpm for five minutes and then went to 1400 rpm for another five minutes. Brought the aircraft up to full throttle at 2800 rpm and held that power for two minutes. EGT stabilized at 560 C and the CHT at 165 C. Reduced the throttle to 2000 rpm and held that for another two minutes then a 1000 rpm for a minute before shutdown. Engine would idle at 300 rpm. Vibration was very light at full power with lots of wind in the cockpit.

Put the aircraft back in the hanger and completed a post run inspection. Still didn't get an indication of oil temperature and the sight gage on the oil tank will need to be moved to another location. The linkage there allows air to be pulled into the oil intake line.

Cut one 3 inch strip from the aluminum sheet for another wing gap cover. Finishing the edges of the strip will have to wait for the next work day.
