Brief Description: Covered the Left Side of the Rudder
Taped all of the edges on the rudder frame, light bracket and post with cotton tape. Used a small soldering iron to penetrate the tape at each of the rivet holes that were covered. Cut a section of fabric to fit over the rudder frame. Applied a thin layer of glue around the edge of the rudder and allowed to dry to tacky. Laid the fabric over the rudder frame and cut at the rudder horn and hinges for fit. Smooth the fabric over and sealed one edge to the rudder post. Continued around the rudder frame pulling the fabric tight and sealing it to the frame. Using a small iron smoothed the fabric around the frame. Applied additional glue along the back side of the fabric completely around the frame. Again ironed the fabric around the inside of the frame. Cut the excess material all around the frame edge. Applied addition glue under the edge of the fabric around the frame. Trimmed the excess material from the hinge cutouts. Applied a final ironing around the frame ensuring all edges were flat to the frame.
