Brief Description: Aft Landing Gear Support Cables Installed
Installed a thimble in the right bottom aft bracket on the landing gear. Slid a copper Nicro press sleeve on the 1/8 inch bracing cable and run it through the thimble and back through the sleeve. Crimped the sleeve two times using the 1/8 inch crimp position on the hand vice. Installed a thimble in the top left aft bracket on the fuselage. Ran the cable from the bottom right bracket up to the top forward right bracket and marked 8 inches beyond. Cut the cable using a chisel and steel block at the marked location. Placed a press sleeve on the cable and then ran the cable through the thimble and back into the sleeve. Connected a ratchet strap to the bottom right landing and extended it to the cable at the top left bracket and connected them together with a vice grip. Pulled the cable tight and secured it with a cable clamp to hold until the other cross cable is installed.
Installed the second cross cable from the bottom left landing gear bracket to the top right bracket using the same procedures as above. Using the ratchet strap pulled the cable tight and check the alignment of the landing gear with the fuselage. When the gear was correctly aligned crimped the top sleeves using two crimps on each sleeve. Using a steel sheet protector on the cables, cut the loose end next to the sleeve with a Dremel tool and cut off wheel. Applied a third crimp to each sleeve next to the cutoff end to complete the cables.
