Brief Description:  Repaired Left Wing Stub Step and Mounted AOA Sende

Hanged the two left wing struts in the shop and sprayed painted each with gray aluminum primer. Allowed to dry before taking them back to the airport.

Obtained new batteries for the digital angle display. Leveled the airframe by raising the tail until the fuselage is level at the cockpit. Set the laser to mark the firewall behind the engine and measured the distance from the firewall to the front spar of the center wing. It measured about 3 inches which is a bit short. Have to work on the cross side cables to get set the correct distance.

Set the tail back down on the ground. Removed the material over the step brace where it was broken away from the lower longeron. Set up the MIG welder and placed a spray bottle of water to hand before attempting to weld the brace back in place. Gripped the brace with vice-grips and forced it back in position. Held it there while spot welding to hold in place. Removed the vice-grips and spayed down the area with water. Continued to weld the brace in short increments to keep the heat down. Spayed the area with water and continued to weld each side of the brace. After the final session of welding allow the area to cool and then sprayed again with water. Used the powered finger sander to smooth the bottom of the weld. Painted the area with black primer. Allowed the primer to dry. Used the finger sander to sand the fabric around the opening for the repair for the application of a fabric patch over the hole. Applied glue around the opening and left it to set. Cut a patch to go over the opening in the belly of the fuselage. Applied the patch to the hole and covered the edges with additional glue. Allow to dry over night before ironing the area tight.

Measured 12 inched down from the top of the forward left wing strut and marked that location. Removed the AOA sensor from the mounting faring and placed it with the pot up. Used a 5/32 inch drill bit to drill a hole beside the pot for one of the #6 mounting screws. Measured out 1 3/16 inches directly acro
