Brief Description:  Installed Air Filter and VHF Antenna Mount

Removed a half inch from each of the air filter back plate bolts and sanded smooth the ends. Installed the 2 by 12 inch oval filter onto the engine filter plate and secured the filter with the back plate using two nylon wing nuts.

Cut a segment of heavy paper and used it to make a template of the antenna end showing the locations of the mounting bolts and antenna connection. Used an 8 by 10 inch segment of sheet aluminum and positioned it on the ground plane near the aft center mounting tab. Marked the position for the mounting point. Removed the sheet and drilled a 3/16 inch hole at the marked point. Secured the sheet back on the ground plane and marked its outline. Also using a square marked a vertical line on the sheet to the left of center. Using the paper template aligned on the marked line, drilled the two 3/16 inch mounting holes and a 9/16 inch hole for the BNC connector. Positioned the sheet on the ground plane and bolted it in place. Checked the alignment with the marks and then drilled a 1/8 inch hole in the top right corner. Installed a pop rivet in the drilled hole. Drilled 6 more 1/8 inch holes on the sheet and installed pop rivets in each. Mounted the ground plane back on the fuselage using 1024 pan head screws.

Pulled wire for tail light along the left side of the fuselage and cut to length. Set the tail light wire aside until the tubing is available to support the wire run. Also pulled wire for the left and right wing lights into the wing stubs. Connections to be made during the next work day.
